A car in Dubai does not live by the European service book. 45°C in the shade, short trips in traffic, sand in the air and air conditioning that runs for eight months a year age engine oil, brake fluid, coolant and batteries far faster than 15,000 km on a cool motorway. Minor Service — from 200 AED
- Engine oil and oil filter — the oil grade your engine specifies (0W-20 to 5W-40, long-life or not), quoted for your exact car.
- Air filter and cabin filter checked and replaced if dusty — in Dubai they rarely last the interval.
- All fluids topped up: coolant, brake fluid, power steering, washer; tyre pressures set, tread checked.
- Battery and charging test — two summers is a battery's life here.
- 30-point inspection on the lift: brakes, suspension play, drive belts, hoses, leaks, underbody, lights, AC performance — with a written report and photos of anything that needs attention.
- Service light reset and the service recorded in the car's digital history where the brand supports it.
Major Service — from 550 AED
Everything in the minor service, plus the items that are due every second service or once a year in this climate:
- Brake fluid replacement — it absorbs moisture and boils earlier every summer; from 100 AED.
- Spark plugs — misfires under load are the first sign they are overdue; from 100 AED.
- Air conditioner disinfection — foam through the evaporator and steam through the vents, where the cabin smell actually lives; from 150 AED.
- Full electrical diagnostics — every module read, fault memory, battery and charging system; from 100 AED. Brake system diagnostics included.
Add when due: gearbox oil every 60,000–80,000 km (from 350 AED — "lifetime" fill does not survive Dubai traffic), coolant change every two years (from 80 AED), transfer case and differential oil on 4x4s.
Service Intervals for the UAE
Minor service every 8,000–10,000 km or 6 months, major service every 20,000 km or 12 months, alternating. Turbocharged petrol engines (BMW N20/B48, Mercedes M274/M177, VAG EA888), direct-injection engines with carbon build-up and cars that mostly do short trips in traffic should stay at the lower end. Hybrids keep the same engine intervals; the 12V battery and the high-voltage cooling are checked at every visit.
